Invasive Species Removal
The Friends of Ohiopyle is a partner in the Southern Laurel Highlands Plant Management Partnership. Through the monthly volunteer days, Project Weedwhack volunteer days, and contracted work, an all out effort has been taking place to lessen the threat to our native plants. Active removal includes the following species: Japanese Knotweed, Japanese Barberry, Multi-flora rose, Autumn Olive, Japanese Stiltgrass, Garlic Mustard, Burning Bush, Purple Loosestrife, and Hemlock Woolly Adelgid.
The Friends of Ohiopyle are in constant need of funding for the purchase of herbicides and to contract large scale removals.
